#18 The Finish Line is in Sight

The nice weather is here at last.  It is amazing how much more energy you have when it is sunny and warm outside.  Summer break is just around the corner.

Sounds like you guys have been busy!  I was talking to my friend Jaxson last night (he is 8 years old), and he is in the middle of the Wayside School book right now.  He says that in some parts he can’t stop laughing.  Hopefully all of you got good reports from your parents at Open House.

Wow, there are all kinds of cooks in your class.  I should have hired a few of you to be the personal cooks at Palisades apartment #601.  That would have been a nice birthday present for Messy Moffitt or Beardman.  It would be a full-time job though because all three of us can eat a lot of food.

I hope all of you are making Gokul feel welcome in his new environment.  I wonder what sports or hobbies they do in India?

I just finished my last college assignment three days ago.  Whoo-hoo!  It seems like yesterday I was walking nervously into my first college class.  That was five years ago.  Seems like a long time, but it went by really fast.  Even though it is an awesome feeling to be done, it is also sad.  The last five years were the most fun of my life.  In that time period, I met friends that I will have for the rest of my life and will have memories that will last a lifetime.  And after taking over 50 classes, I would like to think that I am a lot wiser now than I was when I entered the University of Wisconsin.

I can sit here now and tell you all that college is awesome!  Each and every one of you should work hard in school so that you can experience it.  And it does not have to be at the University of Wisconsin.  There are colleges everywhere, big and small, near and far, that all offer a great learning and growing experience.  Develop good work skills now — like listening to your teachers and doing quality work — and you will set yourself up to get into the college of your choice.  Every day matters.

Gabe Carimi, the Bears' first-round draft pick and former Badger

I was also pumped up to hear about all of the Badgers that got drafted — JJ Watt, Gabe Carimi, Lance Kendricks, and of course Beardman and Messy Moffitt.  They have all worked extremely hard to get where they are.  And they all were good students, too.  Thanks for your words of encouragement.  I will know what team I will be playing for hopefully by the end of the month.

Until then, I will keep throwing the football everyday like you guys told me to until my arm falls off.

Hopefully I can make it back to Willow Bend one more time before you guys leave for break.  My goal is to get my two roomates to come along for the visit as well.  I will let you guys know if I can figure something out.

Finish the semester on a high note!
